Hiya! Nice to hear from you (took me a while to figure "Dumela" out - forgot what it meant. I'm more comfortable with Konichiwa!)
Anyway, on your firts question...ta dah! The title is Sparta and Athens: a study in Alterite. Basically its a comparrison between the two city states and why they differed to the extent which they did. But that is in the past - I handed the damn thing in today, the final manuscript, to be moderated. So I'm free!
Anyway, thats just for a Masters degree. I'm thinking of doing another Masters degree next year in Linguistics. A Doctarate wil have to wait for a while.
I finished Jigoku Shoujo about a week ago. Was quite good. My only criticism would be the repetitiveness of the first 20+ eps - someone has a grudge, Enma Ai is summoned and someone gets send to hell. I would have wanted mre from her background than just the last 3 eps. But I hear they are currently working on another season whih would be good.
I like tho whole concept though: send someone to hell and be punished by being send to hell as well. Some of the reasons were a bit frivolous though....
Anyway, C ya around again!
Hello!
Yo! No, I haven't forgotten you. Indeed I am honored that you called on me first. Its also been a while since I myself have visited MT. Been mostly working on my thesis.
In general I wouldn't recommend a complete shut-off from social contact. You wouldn't want to end up an academic wreck or hermit just because you don't like people. If not for people, especially friends, what do you have left?
So close those books once in a while and just spend time with friends.
Not gonna preach to you now. Not old enough to do that. What you do is your buisiness - I can only make recommendations.
ps Not my business (either) but I read the previous post and I'm afraid I have to agree with phoenixalcott's reaction. I don't know the background of the thread, but you can't judge an entire religion on what the minority extremists does. And that goes for every religion, culture, and even sect you may care to mention. General rule. Be carefull not to be stereotypical.
Anyway, hope to hear from you!
hello. i came to ur page for a specific purpose. that is to clarify ur disgusting and most distorted view of Islam. unfortunately, u hav cum into contact with what is commonly called Islamic extremism. To my dismay, u havnt been of the fortunate ones who hav realized thta this is Islamic extremism but rather think it is Islam itself. There are hundreds of converts to Islam everyday b/c they realize that society has cast a distorted view of Islam. Our precious Qur'an actually states that women ARE equal to men and i cud prove this in a variety of ways using of course first hand sources from the Qur'an itself. If u r talking about the Hijab (the veil), Islam doesn't only mark it as mandatory for women, but for men as well. Men on the other hand do not need to wear the Burwah but they musn't wear clothes that show their form or su ch. You call Islam a terrible women degrading religion but look at today's society. they degrade women each day with their exposive clothing and their songs that objectify women. FYI Islam givs women a shield, with the Hijab, men r much less l ikely to attack women or more improtantly rape them b./c their beauty isnt shown and nor is their figure. i m sure that at the least u r intelligent enuf to realize that 73% of rapes or attempted rapes occur b/c men r obseessive over women and the Hijab stops that. i used to share a similar view to urs a year ago until i actually had enuf courage to do research onthis amazing religion and actually figure out the reason to the Hijab. ON the other hand, u believed these distoreted misrepresentations sent out by the media and society about Islam without any tru judgement from Muslims themselves. Thank u and hav a splendid day.
Thank you very much for your comment on my Nerine scan ^^
I hope that you like it.
The whole problem with the Etruscans is that they are a bit early (writing were still experimental, even for them) and then the Romans conquered them in the 3rd century BC. We do know, however, on archeological basis, that they were culturaly even more advanced than the Romans (more artistic for one) but that their armies couldn't keep the Romans at bay. What kind of sealed the negative Roman feeling was that Rome's last kings, the Tarquins, were from Etruscan origin, and it was after Tarquin Superbus that the Romans abolished kingship in Rome (511BC) and became a Republic. Tarquin's friends from Tarquinia (Etruria) tried to re-instate him, a few wars were fought, and a general feeliing of ill will was present untill they were conquered by the Romans.
Why am I telling you this?
O yes...
The theory that they came from Lydia (West Turkey) was first mentioned by Herodotus (1.94 - his Tyrrhians which settled in Umbria are sometimes identified with the Etruscans). This was one of Herodotous' famous digressions, i.e. a story he told which took him of the topic. Usually such stories were just hear-say - basically gossip or local legends, not always true. Personally I'd say that the Etruscans were indigenious Italic people (their writing script looks more Italic than Greek). Take a look HERE. Some interesting theories and facts. On the language, see THIS.
C ya!

Anime hardly exist officially in South Africa. We did have a dubbed version of Dragon Ball Z on TV a loooong while ago, but hardly anything else. If you were lucky enough to have Satelite TV, you might have seen a weekly anime on one of the British channels, but that has been discarded a while ago (of course they were dubbed, but better than nothing). We also have an extremely poor selection of DVDs in shops (at expensive prices and dumped under the heading childrens' movies together with Walt Disney). Thus the general consent is to distribute fansubs or ripped versions (Anime is hardly if ever licensed here - at least not as far as I know). So people who have the connection download it by whatever means, usually through torrents (my own connection's to slow to handle it
) and
then they spread it. The local attitude is that since the shops don't carry it,
you can't buy it anyway, so you distribute what you have for free. Hence piracy
is active here, although no-one sells or buys it.
Just a warning though, do not ask for or spread sources on MT. You might get away with it, but MT might not (its too big so the powers that be might notice it and sue MT), so MT doesn't allow anything that might be illegal on its own pages.
Ja mate!
